Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born August 8, 1989, in Paris. As a young girl of just five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled at an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma's ambition was to become an actor. As a young girl of six, she joined the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons in acting, singing and dance. When she was 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Casting agents found Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after having eight straight auditions. Emma's debut film appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. It was also one of the top-rated films of 2001. The opening weekday and weekend sales were record-breaking. The film was praised by reviewers, and so were the performance of three new starlets. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her exceptional performance. Emma received five awards to honor her role in the film.
